I'm revealing my "secret pal 7 identity" on my blog! I'm glad you stopped by to see who I am. I'm a first year, 27 year old, Kinder teacher who lives in Arlington, Texas. I did have pictures of my two babies posted on here- but got kinda paranoid and took them off after a while. I can email them though. They made my day brighter. I've been married for almost 6 years to my dh (who at this exact moment am a bit miffed at- another LONG story). I was soooo glad to be your Secret Pal. You totally rock and have been lots of fun! I've enjoyed getting to know you.

To all my other blog readers- hope this hasn't been your insomnia fix... I knitted 2 rows while watching Grey's Anatomy. How come knitting is faster than purling? The purling row is SOOO darn slow. But the knitting row goes fast- but that means that the purling rows come by faster too. Oh, the cycle of discouragement...

Maybe, I'll start on the Branching Out in my new yarn...

It's a better week!

Hello! I love my blogland friends. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm not alone and that makes me feel very good. I'm even motivated to do more on here. :)

Have I knitted lately? Well, no, but hopefully I'll get some spare time soon. How do you people knit so many fabulous projects and still have a life? I can't seem to juggle it all yet. My kiddos are too interested in my yarn and needles and by the time they go to sleep, heck I'm practically asleep too. But I'm planning on working really soon. And buying those batteries for my camera.

School is going well. I'm down to 15 and it's quite the nice size group. I even have my OWN table for guided reading. I'm ecstatic about that. I'm sorry it I spelled that wrong people. Please forgive me. I spend more of my day spelling words like " let, sister, took" and don't get to practice my big adult words much, except the phrase " That behavior is unacceptable," "You are making bad choices," " I am disappointed in your behavior today."

I got pulled over for the first time ever in my 27 years - actually 6 years as a driver- no I did not drive when I was 16 even though I had a license- I was scared to death of driving- a car is practically a weapon and I wanted no part of it. After I got married and accepted into the college that was 45 minutes away from me is when I began driving. I still don't like driving at night- but driving is a bit more tolerable now. Sorry about that tangent. But the pulling over experience was quite pleasant and I'm thankful it wasn't for speeding!! Of course I was late to meeting my best friend for dinner. Sorry!

Hello!!

You know what, it's hard to post when you feel like you're alone in knitting blogland. I've read so many AWESOME blogs and I really don't have much to say, so it's hard to stay motivated and blog. It doesn't help that I'm not in the best of moods today. Oh well...

So here's an update....

My Secret Pal got me the most incredible gift of Cherry Tree Hill yarn which I've NEVER experienced before. Wow! That stuff is awesome. I am in the process of making Glampyre's Minisweater with it. I love the way it looks so far. Sorry, no pictures- batteries are dead. :(

I also received some candles, a book- Meditations for women who knit too much. :) A bee measuring tape- too cute for words!!!

Thank you secret pal! You truly rock!!

Other news, as some of you know, it's my first year teaching. The kids in my class are so awesome. I got 3 balloons grams from my kids with notes saying that I'm the best teacher (I know I'm their first teacher- but this kid moved so he does have something to compare it too) and another saying "Thanks for being a huge help" to their child. I got more gifts for Valentines than I did for Christmas- who knew?!

We concluded our Ladybug unit. I actually had a kiddo try to sneak some (6!!) ladybugs home. He wanted to show his dad. Isn't that just precious?!

I did get the new yarn for "Branching Out" from Elsebeth Lavold in Moss. Just got it today. Soo pretty! Can't wait to get started on it. I'm doing Branching out from Knitty. I'm using Cotton Ease. I know- probably not a very good choice- but since I tend to mess things up the first time around, I didn't want to spend good money and time (since a lot is devoted to figuring how to do the pattern) on a pretty yarn. If it comes out good- then I'll attempt it in something else. :)

More later, my kids are still awake because they are too wired from all the excitement today. :) Plus they took a LOOONG nap this afternoon.

Does anyone know if Lost- Season Two is on DVD? Isn't she precious?

The yarn is for my secret pal- she has a charity and I thought I could add a scarf to it. Hopefully it'll get to exactly the right person who needs it.

My Secret Pal ROCKS!!!

I got my GRANDE FINALE of gifts from my secret pal. I'm still here. It's been a crazy month. Sorry so long. I've started working with a personal trainer. Ouch- but she's awesome. My little ones are getting older- Big K turned 3 and Little A turned 15 months. Actually, we're getting her toddler bed today. I may for the first time actually post their pictures here... I'm still thinking about it. :)

Teaching is going good. I'm halfway done with my first year of teaching and I do love it. I made a few more centers- and the kids like them alot so that's good.

Now, my knitting. I've done a few rows here and there on the Clapotis. It's taking soooooo long. It's hard to stay motivated. I need to do something fast so I can feel like I've accomplished something. A new scarf would be really cool. But I want something I can knit on huge needles. Sounds like cheating doesn't it.

Let me tell you about my awesome secret pal. She's wonderful. I received the most incredible purple yarn. It's also beautifully soft. She also included a great shawl pattern. I'm tempted to put the Clapotis aside to knit this one. Can I knit it on huge needles? :)

Thank you SECRET PAL

I got a wonderful gift from my secret pal. But it's going to feel so good in my classroom and at recess to just wrap it around and go... So I must press on to my end goal... I wanted to tell them thank you for making this a pleasurable experience for me. So whoever you are at there- thank you soo much.

The person I got to spoil is Cathi from abfab.typepad.com And she is awesome. She is sooo very cool. She makes me want to be a better knitter. Not just a better knitter- a fun, totally cool, oh so creative knitter. I've enjoyed getting to know her through her blog and her knitting circle of awesome people. Once the hectic part of starting a career subsides, I'm going to burn some knitting rubber. I have been able to do a LITTLE knitting. But I have some questions... Can anyone help me?

The toe up pattern I'm using calls for 3 dpn needles and work with the 4th needle. Okay I am but I'm running out of room on my needle. Stitches are about to fall off the needle and I can not fully extend the sock so far to try it on without it coming off the needles.

On the Clapotis- can it be worked on a circular needle? I'm using a straight needle but I'm much rather use the circular needle. Has anyone done that?

Is it normal to have your "knitting calendar" filled with projects? I think I've just mapped out the next 6-9 months of knitting projects. Like the Brioche Helmet Hat in IK for the kiddos, the weekend bag- I'm going to attempt it, the Union Square Market Sweater, and the Fur Trim Wrap for my sister's birthday in February... We'll see of course. It's all tenative.

What do you think about the new Interweave Knits Magazine

I found a LOT of things I want to knit. I still can't believe it. It's a toe-up version because I want them to FIT and I'm paranoid that otherwise they won't because - I hate to admit this to everyone- I have wide feet. I hate it- but I do. Soo... I want them to fit very well. My normal store bought socks fit my feet fine- but I just wanted to make sure. Please the progress seems to hit me more this way. Okay... I just thought about something- I told you that I have wide feet- but they are not BIG and WIDE feet- I'm short (5'3) and I wear a 7 and a half. I sometimes wish everything on me was a bit smaller- so my knitting might go a bit faster since there wouldn't be sooo much to knit (like reading patterns and being toward the last part inside the parenthesis and having to buy 2-3 more balls of yarn for that shirt) Anyways, I'm rambling today...

I haven't forgotten about Clapotis. I just needed to do something else for a little bit while I'm getting my classroom in order. I needed to feel progress in SOMETHING. Having to do 12 repeats in one section will not help with that.

Did I tell you all that I went to my LYS? Well I'm budgeting another trip in the very NEAR future- like next week. I need more needles. Plus, I'm thinking about making my big boy a hat for the winter so I better get started now...

I'm making a baby blanket for a friend. No pattern- just messing with yarn. I'm not sure I like the colors... If you could see if you'd know what I am talking about. It's different and warm. I kinda like it- but it's just plain weird. I did garter stitch for the middle oblong rectangle and did crochet in the other yarn. I think I'm going to go and start knitting in that yarn soon on it. It's all in my head- so I have no idea what it'll look like. I don't think my husband is being honest with me on how it looks either. He's says it's okay and he thinks they'll like it- but the hestitation in the voice concerns me. I may frog it and go with my second idea which is to do stripes. I was using scrap yarn because I thought it would be something fun to do. Maybe I'll just make a lap blanket for me since I get cold in this new place and make a better blanket for the baby. I just wanted something quick. I think I'm going to stick to the size 17 needles....

Okay, I'm done. Till next time

Crazy Knitter- who SHOULD be doing stuff for school

Secret Pal Strikes Again

You rock!!! My family appreciates you and wants you back home safe!!! Thank you...

As far as my knitting though... ARGH.. I'm still on section 2 on the Clapotis. It's taking forever. It may have something to do with my son getting into some powder and sprinkling it EVERYWHERE. I'm on the last repeat on section 2... I'm getting THIS close to my first drop stitch. It's my motivation at this point.

As far as my Mariposa- I'm still on the front panel. I have about another inch to go because I get to switch colors. It'll be my first ever color change. We'll see how that goes.

I'm considering beginning a scarf. My first ever knitting project was a scarf- but now I want a NICE scarf. It should be mindless and quick enough for me to do... Hmm.. When should I start on that?

I haven't started any socks yet. I don't know what types of dpn to get for socks. What works best?

I knitted for a few moments before my staff development started. I got their early- didn't know anyone- so I started knitting. At least it makes the time pass faster.

Well I'm going to get off this thing and get to knitting- instead of writing about how much I DON'T have done. That was awesome. It was a great time with great people. Seeing all their work, I was so in awe. I could have just sat and watched them all night. So I'm finally growing up. I'm actively getting out of my comfort zone. I'm actually meeting new people and talking. Okay I didn't talk a whole LOT, but baby steps okay. I will definitely go back. I got about 2 more inches done of the Mariposa. I'll post pictures soon. I have leftover yarn (La Boheme) from my Triada scarf. What can I knit with it? It's too pretty to go to waste. Well off to the zoo I go. I'll knit some in the car.

The picture describes how I feel...

ARGH!! Will I ever get done with the front of the Mariposa? I only have 5 inches so far... I hate being impatient... I also found at LEAST 3 other patterns I want to be knitting. I am an addict to glampyreknits patterns. I've never knitted any before but I've found soo many awesome ones. Of course, I would need to find a way to adapt them to me and my body shape and I have NO idea on how to do that. I'm not allowed to buy anymore says Mr. A. I understand that but still...

I wish I could knit in my sleep, I'd get a LOT done then. I wonder what people do with their knitting projects like sweater, etc. if they lose a lot of weight. I am planning on losing weight but then I think about all the things I want to make and how I wouldn't be able to wear them if I lost weight and then the time I lost doing it. Hmm, something to think about. Maybe I'll just knit socks.

I was able to knit during a movie. I was so happy. I did stop though because it had subtitles and it was getting really good. We watched The Chorus- a French film. It was very good and relaxing before going to sleep.

My question of the day: What do you do with stitch markers? I haven't had to use them yet.

Maybe I'll start a quick knitting project like the One Skein Wonder by glampyre- Ms. Stephanie Japel. I was thinking about making one for my sister. She'd look cute it it. I wonder if I can make Baby A one... Wouldn't that be cute? It would go great with a plain white onesie and some denim shorts or a little skirt. Come on, don't you think so... That is a thought now.

Okay, I'm tired. I think I'm going to go read some blogs before beddie bye time.

.

Mission Possible

I found it!!! That is CrAzY!!! I was up knitting until about 2:00 am this morning. I'm working on a couple of projects such as my Mariposa KAL and the Fiery Bolero from IK. I also bought the Crumpets pattern, but I'm having a hard time finding the yarn for that since Cotton Ease is discountinued and I can't find TLC Cotton Plus- yet...

Back to my dream. I knitted alot. I went to my LYS looking for the TLC Cotton Plus and they didn't have it because it was teh TLC brand. But I was going through tons of beautiful yarn. So that makes it a pleasant dream instead of a nightmare.

So today I hunt for the TLC Cotton Plus yarn... I also still need #5 circular needle and a #6 needle... More stuff I need...

So I am loading up the kids and hubby and heading to get the goods...

I miss this....

Wow... Sometimes I wake up and forget that I ever went somewhere so amazing. It's only been a few weeks and it's like I miss Italy. I was only there for a little less than a week, but I miss it. I miss the food and the walking and the beautiful surroundings.

Maybe Sean and I will move there when the kids are grown up. Hey, maybe we'll move the WHOLE family there and we'll all live there and I could teach English to children and maybe open my own yarn store and hold knitting classes. How cool would that be...

Anyways, I bought the Microspun yarn for the Mariposa KAL... I also bought the Crumpets pattern for Baby Girl. I'm so excited. But I'm having a HARD time finding the Lion Brand Cotton Ease yarn so I may have to use the TLC Cotton Plus yarn instead. So off I'll have to go with both kiddos in search of the yarn... I want to add beads too. This is will be my most difficult project yet...

Okay, everything is hard because I'm still a newborn at this...

My Secret Pal (the one spoiling me) contacted me today. I'm so excited!!!

I got the information for the one I'm spoiling too. She seems so cool. This is going to be GREAT!!

Okay, back to baby duty. Big Boy is currently sleeping... One down, one more to go.

I have a wishlist

I have an amazon wishlist...

www.amazon.com

under the email address for this blog which is iloveteaching@gmail.com

Well I'm back...

I finished the scarf... It's my 2nd ever knitting project so I'm proud of it. I didn't follow the rules though. Oops... I bougth the wrong knitting needle (It was a 17 needle but 32") so that didn't work. Plus it was METAL- a no-no for flying. So I trying it with a size 15 needles. (I needed something to do on the airplane- 15 hours people, 15 hours) plus I'm a big girl and casted on more stitches. It was good experience. It sure keeps ya warm. I was burning up just taking pictures of it. I live in Texas so I probably won't get to wear it a LOT anyways, it was a fun project though. So don't laugh at it- It's good for a 2nd project. It's my first thing that is NOT a square. My first project was a scarf ( a long one) and I messed that up (didn't know about Stockinette Stitch and it's tendency to ROLL). so Voila...

Italy was great. I found a yarn shop there and bought some yarn too. :)

Me and the scarf... I don't spin yet, but I do crochet!

3. Do you have any allergies? I attempted to crochet a hat today. I just got so darn frustrated. I need to call my local yarn store and schedule a private lesson. I started on the Long Cardigan from Knit.1-Vogue Knitting. It's going VERY well so far. I'm still working on the back. I finished the 4" of p3,k2 and now it's just knitting up a VERY long section... That part will take a while. It's my first project that is not a square and has shapes, parts and will involve sewing. I'm very nervous about it- but baby steps. I'll just finish each section and SCREAM for help when I need it. I'm thinking about adding some of those really cute crochet flowers on it-like on the pocket or for buttons. I'm not sure yet.

I FINALLY watched a movie and knitted. I am so happy. I watched the Series of Unfortunate Events- pretty good. I was able to finish that ribbing during that time and start on the rest of it. I also knitted while riding in the car. I'm going to get this project done. Now that I'm done with my student teaching- I'll have a wee bit more time depending on the kids that particular day. Maybe in the morning- during naps and before bed- whenever they are sleeping.

Speaking of sleep- that's what I need to do myself... Well, I'm not that talented yet. I was able to get about 5 rows done- but it was a bit difficult for me. I can knit while riding in the car just fine. I think my husband prefers that I do so that I am not involved in his driving mishaps. I am STILL in love with my Lilac shawl. It feels so good. I have OFFICIALLY decided to frog the other shawl. Now I need to figure out what to do with the yarn. I also bought the Vogue Knitting Knit 1 Magazine. I already have the yarn for another pattern (it's a cardigan), I'm going to be making that this summer. I was cold in the classroom today and realized it would be nice to have a cardigan...
I didn't go to the SNB. I talked myself out of it. I got nervous and felt I'd probably be intimidated by the expertise that I just decided to stay home with the kiddos. Maybe next time.

So does anyone have any tips on how to watch a movie and knit at the same time? Thanks in advance...

My new thrill

Well... I'm starting not to like the purple shawl very much. After looking at the picture of it- I got a bit disgusted with it. I should have left it at one strand... Oh well. I went to my FIRST EVER local yarn store. I'm so in love. I bought 4 balls of Lilac Rowan Calmer yarn. Oh my- it's nice stuff. I'm going to remake the shawl with that. Since it's hot here in Texas. I thought it would be nice to have for chilly movie theaters and dining establishments. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. It's so easy to knit with. I'm just in awe of it. I'm going to my first SNB on Sunday. I'm a bit nervous about fitting it. I know that we all have knitting in common- but I'm such a baby knitter. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. The kids are asleep and I should be knitting... One more week of student teaching and then I'll have oodles of more time to knit the shawl in time for the trip to Italy. Maybe I'll post pictures of me wearing it while I am there. That sounds like an idea. Then maybe I'll make matching shawls for my baby girl and me for when she gets to about age 3. It would be cute. I think...

My purple shawl

Impatient

Well. That is my emotion lately. Impatient. This shawl feels like FOREVER. Here is a picture. Okay, all of you expert knitters- please don't laugh, I'm just a baby. It is warm though. I'm excited about it not being a square but instead a triangle. Yeah!!! It's 2 strands of yarn together. I just thought the one strand was too lite. I have so much more to go. How much longer will this take...

I still haven't heard back about my yarn. I'm getting really anxious now. I want it NOW. It will help inspire and motivate me to move faster... It's hard to find the time to knit with 2 small babies. But I try. My daughter loves the yarn and wants to put it in her mouth while my 2.5 year old son wants to take my knitting needles. ARGH... I will finish this shawl before the trip. I have a month... Don't you think I will?

Still waiting for my precious yarn

Well. I've knitting a couple of rows before going to bed. However, I ordered some new yarn and I'm so EXCITED about it. I'm really wanting it badly. I bought a gorgeous shawl pattern on sweaterbabe.com to crochet and I want to make it before my big trip to Italy. I've NEVER bought such soft beautiful yarn and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It's the SuperKid yarn. I hope that makes sense. It's all still new to me. I also went to Half-Price books yesterday with the family. While my husband was taking my oldest to get his diaper changed- he saw a group of knitters. He was so sweet to go and tell them about me. I got their information- it's a SNB group. Yeah. I'm going to make some knitting friends. Woo Hoo! Well, that's all for now. Baby girl is waking up...

My First Blog

Where do I start? Well. I love knitting, but I don't think it loves me back. It tormets me so. :) Okay, not really. I'm trying to make my first EVER shawl. It's coming along okay, just taking a while to get somewhere. The only other thing I've made is a VERY long scarf. So I'm excited. I'm starting to think that I will start a collection of shawls and wraps. I think they will come in handy in the classroom when I get a bit chilly.
